A UV water treatment system can look simple from the outside, but replacing its lamp involves more than pulling out one bulb and installing another. The lamp sits inside a quartz sleeve, the sleeve must remain clean and intact, and the controller must recognize that the system is operating correctly.

You may be able to handle the work yourself if the unit is accessible, clearly identified and supported by complete service instructions. Hiring a professional is the better choice when the chamber must be disassembled, the sleeve is stuck or stained, electrical components show damage, or you cannot confirm that the system returned to normal operation.
